Bhaiṣajyaguru, also known as the Medicine Buddha, holds a significant place in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Revered for his healing powers—both physical and spiritual—he is often depicted as a doctor who cures suffering using the medicine of his teachings. His name translates to “Medicine Guru, King of Lapis Lazuli Light.” Bhaiṣajyaguru presides over a pure land called Vaiduryanirbhasa.
